January 16th+17th - JORC in Minot, N.D. (Air Rifle and .22 Rifle)

The Forks Junior Rifle team traveled to Minot, ND on January 16th and 17th 2016 to participate in the Junior Olympic Championships. We had 4 boys and one girl competing for the chance to go to Colorado Springs, Colorado where the Olympic Training Center is located. You can qualify one of three ways. You can either shoot a minimum qualifying score, be the state champion or wait to see if your score is good enough to get an invite. There are only 72 boys and 72 girls selected in the 22 rifle category, and around 140 in each air rifle category. Karleigh Gause is on the bubble in both the Air Rifle and 22 categories. Tyler Linneman is on the bubble in the 22 category. They are both waiting patiently hoping for the chance to compete at the Olympic Training Center.

January 9th - Air Pistol JORC in Devils Lake, N.D.

The pistol JORC was held on January 9th 2016 in Devils Lake, ND. Wyatt Gunsallus was the lone Air Pistol shooter from our club. He came close to shooting a personal best in the match but it wasn’t enough to qualify him for the match in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sad to say but this is Wyatt’s last year to qualify for this, But Wyatt still has the rest of this year to shoot as a junior. Good luck to him!
